For our client we are looking for a SME (f/m/d) focus on Active Directory and Compute.

Start: 01.08.2025
Duration: 31.12.2025 (long term engagement (2026))
Capacity: 100% if possible
Location: 75% Remote, 25% Berlin (1 week Berlin / 3 weeks remote in rotation), up to 50% onsite in peak times
Language: English, German is a plus

Project Description:
The "Architecture & Design / Proof-of-Concept (PoC)" project is a key component of the overarching "Central Services Program".
Its primary focus lies in supporting the services for Asset Management, specifically related to the business asset “Substation”. In the future, the solution may be extended to include additional decentralized environments.
The objective of Asset Management is to enhance business processes for substations by enabling remote management capabilities, thereby increasing efficiency and operational flexibility.
Within the scope of the Solution Design Implementation – Proof-of-Concept project, a functional PoC environment will be designed, developed, and implemented to demonstrate the feasibility of Remote IT Services for managing secondary technology at substations.
This includes both hardware and software components, in alignment with Asset Management requirements. Additionally, the project covers the installation of the designed environment and services, forming the
foundation for subsequent phases.

The Central Services covered by the PoC include:
• User Management (IAM) based on Microsoft Active Directory
• Patching and Software Distribution
• Logging and Monitoring
• Time Synchronization Protocol
• Backup and Restore

This Proof-of-Concept will validate the architectural approach and serve as a reference for future scaling and operational integration.

Objectives:
- Requirements Gathering and Analysis
- Design of the Compute Environment for Central Services
- Design of the Active Directory (AD) Solution
- Design of the Compute PoC Solution
- Design and Implementation of File Transfer Solution
- Creation of Bill of Materials (BOM) and Cost Estimation
- Installation and Testing of Compute Infrastructure
- AD Environment Installation and Validation

Skills (must-have):
- Hardware design: Proven experience in hardware design and the dependencies between components.
- Virtualization with Hyper-V: Experience in virtualization using Hyper-V. Experience in installing Hyper-V
- Experience in hardening compute and virtualization layer based on CIS requirements
- Experience in creation of a hardened golden OS Image
- Experience in Backup and restore of installed systems
- Experience with AD design and implementation, group policies, DNS configuration, read only domains
- Experience with design and implementation of AD forest and tree structure
- Experience with design and implementation of trust relationships (Transitive/Non- Transitive)
- Experience in hardening requirements for AD. Experience configuring AD in hardened environments
- Experience in Hardware installation
- Software distribution and software patching, software distribution solutions
- Experience with solutions to transfer file between systems (not FTP itself)
- Experience to explain technical details to non-technical personnel

Skills (should-have):
- Base Network knowledge
